Ramky plans 2 mega industrial parks in AP, T

To set up pharma city on 2,000 acres in T; 1,300-acre multi-product park in AP

Hyderabad: City-based Ramky Group is gearing up to establish two mega industrial parks – one each in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh – with a total investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Once completed, each of these parks is expected to attract investments to the tune of $5 billion.

“We are planning to set up modern pharma city on 2,000 acres in here in Telangana. We will bring large-scale investments into the park. More than 50 industrial parks and over 10,000 companies are our clients. We will tap our large network to attract companies,” Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, Chairman, Ramky Group, told The Hans India.

He however did not disclose the location of the park, but said his group has already acquired nearly 70 per cent of the land.

Ramky Group, a major player in the infrastructure space, is not new to pharmaceutical SEZ activity. Already, it set up Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City in Visakhapatnam district, in joint venture with AP government. Spread over 2,400 acres, the Pharma City has already attracted around $5 billion in investments. “The facility we are going to develop in Telangana will be more advanced one. It will also attract similar level of investments,” Reddy said.

On the new industrial park being planned in Andhra Pradesh, he said: “We are looking to develop the park in 1200 to 1300 acres. It will be a multi-product park, but we will not have pharma units in it,” he said.

The group will soon firm up the plans for both the projects. “We are in the process of finalizing the plans. Both the projects will come to a shape by the end of current fiscal year,” he said.

Exuding confidence that both the parks would attract world class companies, he said: “We have reasonable understanding of what industry needs in terms of infrastructure, governance and prospects for growth. So, we will equip the parks with best infrastructure and technologies. We want to develop them over next five years,” he added.

He said the Telangana government should focus on manufacturing in a big way. “There is a need to improve agriculture sector with new technologies. Besides, it has to support manufacturing sector as it is doing well in services sector,” Reddy explained. This will take the state to a new level, he added, underscoring the need for accelerating IT/ITeS sector growth in Hyderabad.
