Hyderabad: Healthcare major Apollo Hospitals has joined hands with US-based AliveCor to bring Heart Monitor, a mobile ECG device that will be useful for patients suffering from arrhythmias, a health problem related to irregular heartbeat. The device which has been cleared by USFDA is also useful for doctors as it enables them screen patients instantly. “We recognize the pioneering work that has been done by AliveCor in the US and also, the great value that this technology can bring to patients as we work to address the problems of arrhythmias in India,” Dr Prathap C Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals, told media after launching the new device here.

Priced at Rs 12,000, the device is compatible with iOS and Android- mobile devices. “It wirelessly records, displays, stores and transfers heart rate and single-channel ECG, the electrical activity of the heart. Patients can immediately mail the test outcome to the doctors through the mobile and seek opinion,” said Euan Thomson, President and CEO, AliveCor. Apollo Hospitals has bundled three-month consultation with device at Rs 1,000 per month. “After three months, patients can go back to their own doctors or remain with Apollo Hospitals,” Dr Reddy said.
