eBay unveils online mall for watches. Ecommerce player eBay India on Thursday unveiled online watch mall. Dubbed as the largest such store online, it will have over 200 global and local brands on sale with over 65,000 products on display.

Hyderabad: Ecommerce player eBay India on Thursday unveiled online watch mall. Dubbed as the largest such store online, it will have over 200 global and local brands on sale with over 65,000 products on display.
“The watch industry in India, whose size is estimated at $834 million, is clocking annual growth of 10 per cent. The current online market for watches accounts for $32 million, but is growing at 35 per cent year-on-year thanks to the ecommerce boom,” Navin Mistry, Head (Lifestyle Category), eBay India, told media here after unveiling the mall.
The ecommerce major currently enjoy a 21 per cent market share in the online watch sales and the share is expected to go further up with the new mall. On prices, he said the men’s watches are priced around $100 on an average while women’s wrist watches carry an average price tag of about $50.
He further said that the top five states which account for 60 per cent of the watch purchases on eBay India include Karnataka, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. AP accounts for 12 per cent of the overall sales of watches on eBay India, he added. eBay India sells products in electronics, lifestyle, collectibles and other categories. The electronics and lifestyle segments contribute 47 per cent and 43 per cent respectively to its total sales.
