Hyderabad: The industrial and HT consumers strongly opposed the tariff proposal of the Telangana power distribution companies (TSSPDCL and TSNPDCL) for the year 2016-17 in the public hearing organised by the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC). Serious inconsistencies were pointed out by the industry representatives in respect of calculations towards power purchase cost which constituted over 75 per cent of the total cost of the Distribution Companies.

The FTAPCCI was represented by its president Anil Reddy Vennam who highlighted the need for tariff rationalization in respect of MSMEs in particular. He stated that the various State and central government initiatives such as Make in India, etc would not fructify, if tariff rationalisation is not done by the commission.

Reddy also demanded for a separate category for MSMEs with connected load upto 250 KVA in line with LT III A category to encourage the small scale sector in Telangana.
