Hyderabad: Flatpebble.com, a city-based services marketplace, expanded its footprint in the Southeast Asian region by launching its services in the Singapore and Malaysian markets on Tuesday.

Founded in December 2013 by former Microsoft employees Venkatesan Seshadri and Pranav Mehta, Flatpebble helps customers hire verified service providers across more than 10 categories, including photographers, bridal makeup artists, caterers and stylists to meet all types of needs for an event or occasion.

The company, which had raised $600,000 (approximately Rs 3.9 crore) from Indian Angel Network (AN) in August 2015, currently has presence across 15 cities in the country, with close to 4,000 service providers on its platform.

“Kuala Lumpur and Singapore have large Indian communities along with Chinese and Malay consumers who struggle with the same issues Indian consumers face with regards to price transparency, quality and accountability.

Flatpebble disrupts the high-value services, which are critical during special occasions,” Venkatesan Seshadri, founder and chief executive of Flatpebble, said in a statement.

Owing to Malaysia’s growing ‘freelance economy’, Flatpebble is launching its services in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore with over 300 local service providers already on board.

Flatpebble sees immense potential in the Malaysian services marketplace. It is looking at offering its services across three cities by the end of 2016, Seshadri said.
