“We had registered 10 per cent sales growth in last financial year. Our target for 2016-17 is to clock 15 per cent sales growth which will take our cumulative sales well beyond 30,000 mark,” V Varun Dev, Managing Director, Varun Motors, told media here on Tuesday.

He further said that the company sold 25,000 units through Maruti Suzuki showrooms and remaining 2,000 cars through Nexa showrooms, the premium outlets rolled out by the country’s largest carmaker.

“In Hyderabad, we account for 44 per cent of the vehicles sold by Maruti Suzuki. At all India level, we contribute 2.2 per cent to the carmaker’s overall sales,” Dev explained.

Varun Motors is looking to tap newer markets and establish its presence beyond Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “The financial year 2015-16 was significant for us in the sense that we entered into Karnataka and established showroom in Bangalore, the country’s second biggest car market after Delhi,” he said.

Pointing out that Varun Motors had opened 16 outlets including showrooms, workshops and driving schools, he said plans are afoot to open more outlets in this financial year with an investment of Rs 60 crore. “We will open a Nexa showroom in Bangalore, smaller outlets or extended showrooms around Hyderabad, in Ranga Reddy and Nizamabad in Telangana and also at several places across Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

At present, the company operates 12 showrooms, nine rural outlets, 15 used car showrooms, 29 workshops and 13 driving schools across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The dealership has won seven awards, including ‘All India Best Performance Dealer’ at the recent All India Maruti Suzuki Dealers Conference held in Singapore.

“Maruti Suzuki has selected Varun Motors for the best performance dealer award from as many as 415 dealers. This is the biggest award being conferred by Maruti Suzuki on dealers every year and Varun Motors has secured it for second time,” Dev said.

Varun Group, which is also into hospitality, sales of commercial (Bharat Benz) and construction (JCB) vehicles and other sectors, clocked a turnover of Rs 2,400 crore last fiscal. It is eyeing Rs 2,800 crore total business in the current financial year.
