Hyderabad: Wearable devices maker Fitbit India Private Limited is gearing up to expand its retail network across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. At present, the company’s products are available at 47 stores in the two Telugu states.

“Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is the fifth biggest market for Fitbit in the country. Given with the presence of IT industry, the Telugu states offer huge growth potential for us. So, we will expand our retail network here and also rope in even pop-n-mom electronics stores,” Manisha Sood, Country General Manager, Fitbit India Private Limited, told media here on Thursday, without revealing number of new outlets it would rope in.

The company, the Indian subsidiary of US-based Fitbit, also embarked on nationwide expansion that would see the outlet count increasing to 1,000 from the existing 500.

Fitbit India, which offers range of wearable devices that provide health and fitness related information, has launched two more products Alta and Blaze. Priced at Rs 12,999, Alta is a fitness tracking wrist band. FitBit Blaze, available at Rs 19,999, is a smart fitness watch that comes with next-generation features.

According to Sood, the existing lineup of products includes Fitbit Surge, Charge HR, Charge, Flex, One and Zip, priced from Rs 4,500. “Currently, we have 70 per cent market share in the wearable devices category in the country and we expect our market share to go up with the new launches,” she said.

Replying to query, Sood said the company would soon undertake feasibility study on setting up a manufacturing unit in India. “Presently, Fitbit has manufacturing facilities in China. Inspired by ‘Make-In-India’ initiative, the company may be looking at establishing manufacturing facility in India,” she said.
