Edu tech startup gearing up to raise funds for the expansion

Hyderabad: Byndr, a Hyderabad-based edu tech startup that connects students, teachers and colleges on a mobile platform, is on track to raise funds in a seed round to support its expansion, said its Founder and India Head (sales and operations) Satish Kumar Nampally.

“Having bootstrapped it so far, we are now in the process of raising funds. We should be completing the exercise in a month or two,” he told The Hans India. Nampally, however, declined to share the quantum of funds that Byndr was looking at raising.

Founded in May 2015 by a team of tech startup enthusiasts split between Philadelphia in the US and Hyderabad in India, Byndr is an infrastructure-free, mobile-first platform, which targets the students of higher education.

The cloud-based learning management system helps teachers administer their subjects with ease from any device whereas students get to stay engaged and connected to educational resources even outside the classroom.

With colleges and universities as its main customers to implement the platform for the students, Byndr generates revenues from an annual fee of Rs 500 per student.

“Most mid-tier higher education colleges in India are not connected to students on a technology platform. This, combined with the emergence of mobile-based internet in the emerging markets, provided us opportunities to come up with this platform,” Nampally said.

Byndr, which is currently live with 38 colleges across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Orissa with a user (student) base of 40,000, foresees expanding to other markets within India.

“The idea is to expand our horizons to more states including Maharashtra and Karnataka and be present in 100 colleges with a user base of 1 lakh by the end the 2016 calendar,” he added.
