Sembcorp Gayatri Power Limited (SGPL) (formerly NCC Power Projects Limited), has successfully synchronised the first 660 megawatt unit of its 1,320-MW power plant to the grid.

Hyderabad: Sembcorp Gayatri Power Limited (SGPL) (formerly NCC Power Projects Limited), has successfully synchronised the first 660 megawatt unit of its 1,320-MW power plant to the grid.

The company owns and operates one of the two supercritical coal-fired power plants in the 2,640-MW Sembcorp Gayatri Power Complex in Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district.

The first power plant Thermal Powertech Corporation India successfully commenced full commercial operation in September 2015 and is already supplying power to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

“The synchronisation of the first unit to the grid is a significant milestone towards the completion of Sembcorp’s second power plant in Andhra Pradesh. We look forward to commencing commercial operations of this first unit in the third quarter 2016, and the full completion of the plant in the fourth quarter 2016,” said Atul Nargund, Managing Director, Sembcorp Gayatri Power.
