Aadya Restaurants Private Limited, a city-based startup that owns and operates a fleet of mobile food trucks under the Dosa Place brand, has acquired 91 per cent stake in Sukashree Agro Foods’ retail business Chennai Chef, also from Hyderabad, for an undisclosed sum. 

Hyderabad: Aadya Restaurants Private Limited, a city-based startup that owns and operates a fleet of mobile food trucks under the Dosa Place brand, has acquired 91 per cent stake in Sukashree Agro Foods’ retail business Chennai Chef, also from Hyderabad, for an undisclosed sum. Chennai Chef, which is into retail business, has presence across major super markets since the last six years.

The company is mainly involved in selling idly, dosa, nutri-dosa, batters, sambhar and rasam powders. "This acquisition will make us spread our wings into retail business, too. It will help Dosa Place to consolidate its position in the market, grow faster and take a leadership position in this segment,” Ajay Koneru, Founder and Director of Aadya Restaurants, said on Wednesday.

Dosa Place currently operates 4 food trucks and one quick service restaurant (QSR). Koneru said the company was getting into the QSR segment in a big way with ‘The Indian Dosa Company (TIDC) brand. “The plan is to open 36 outlets, both company-owned and franchisee-run, pan-India over the next two years, before going global by December 2017,” he said.
