Flipkart to rank sellers quarterly to improve customer experience

The best merchants can look forward to better visibility on the platform, payments within a week instead of two weeks, as well as discount on shipping including up to 20% for gold-rated sellers.

Goteti said Flipkart has rolled back an earlier programme - Flipkart Advantage fulfilment service for Sellers - where products are sourced from sellers and quality, stocking, packing and shipment is done by the marketplace.

Instead it has been replaced with newly launched Flipkart Assured, which, is aimed at giving customers a better delivery experience with products undergoing stricter quality checks.

The review mechanism, which begins from November 23, will rate sellers every quarter.

The nine-year-old company built its customer base in the early years through efficient delivery. Two years ago it began to aggressively expand its seller base from 10,000 in early 2015 to one lakh now. This coupled with outsourcing of logistics had led to issues in delivery timelines, product quality, refunds and cancellation.
