New Delhi: Tata Sons on Sunday said its ousted chairman Cyrus Mistry misled the Selection Committee which was set up in 2011 for selecting a chairman to succeed Ratan Tata.

“Over the past 3-4 years, Mistry gradually concentrated all power and authority only in his hands as Chairman in all major Tata operating companies,” said the company in a statement.

Tata Sons said Mistry claimed he wasn't given "free hand".

“Ironically in our view, it was this "free hand" and trust in him that he took advantage of the company,” said Tata Sons.

On Saturday, Tata Sons said Mistry had sought the support of Tata Power Company's investors to remain as director on its board. The company claimed that he had been seeking their support against the special resolution to remove him from the board.
