Hyderabad: Maruti Suzuki is looking at doubling its Nexa showroom count to 400 outlets by 2020. The India’s largest carmaker, a subsidiary of Japan’s Suzuki, opened the 200th Nexa showroom in the city on Monday.

“Since its launch, Nexa has received an overwhelming response from customers and has done extremely well in its objective of changing the way cars are sold in India. Maruti Suzuki plans to expand the number of Nexa outlets to 250 by March this year. By the year 2020, there will be 400 Nexa outlets in the country,” R S Kalsi, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki, told the media here on Monday.

The carmaker rolled out Nexa brand of showrooms in July 2015 to provide premium buying experience to the customers, and sell a select group of models. At present, the company markets three models through this retail channel: S-Cross crossover, Baleno hatchback and urban compact Ignis. “In the past 18 months, we have sold 1.85 lakh units through Nexa showrooms.

We expect the sales number to touch 2 lakh by the fiscal year end,” Kalsi said. Later, R S Kalsi; T Hashimoto, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki, and Tarun Garg, Executive Vice President, Nexa, inaugurated the 200th Nexa showroom, Kalyani Motors, at L B Nagar in Hyderabad.
