Hyderabad: Schneider Electric, a global energy management and automation major, on Thursday announced plans to make energy-efficient contactors and circuit breakers at its plant near Hyderabad.

The $30-billion global giant launched in the city the energy-efficient contactors deployed for switching and control applications, and compact circuit breaker used for providing protection to low voltage electrical installations.

“As of now, we are importing these devices from our plants located in France. But we have plans to manufacture them at our Hyderabad plant once sales reach a significant level,” Deepak Sharma, Sr Vice President (Switching & Controlling LoB), Schneider Electric, told the media here.

The new contactors are equipped with an innovative electronic coil that uses up to 80 per cent less energy and generates up to 50 per cent less heat inside cabinets as compared to electro-mechanical contactors. While, the new range of circuit breaker provides most reliable low voltage protection with the patented EverLink technology

These devices will largely be used in the industrial and buildings segment along with automation original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). “New regulations and standards require companies to become more accountable for energy-efficiency and sustainability.

The products, designed keeping in my mind requirements of OEMs and plant managers, help our customers save energy,” said Shrinivas Chebbi, Vice President, Eco Buildings and Partner Business, Schneider Electric India.
