The 14th Edition of the BioAsia witnessed several MoUs and brainstrom session on key issues for the industrial development in the State. Several new projects worth Rs3,400-crore investments have been confirmed at the three-day event. Telangana government showcased the several policy initiatives to the participants.
Hyderabad: The 14th Edition of the BioAsia witnessed several MoUs and brainstrom session on key issues for the industrial development in the State. Several new projects worth Rs3,400-crore investments have been confirmed at the three-day event. Telangana government showcased the several policy initiatives to the participants.
Jayesh Ranjan, IT secretary, said: "BioAsia-2017 witnessed investments of close to Rs3,400 Crore during the event. All these sum up and put Hyderabad as the leading city in Life Sciences in the whole country. We are sure that Hyderabad will continue to work towards increasing its share in global life sciences industry in the coming years. The global event successfully organized around 1,200 trade meetings among various organizations and government departments.”
Global pharma major Novartis signed an MoU with National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad, in building capabilities and skills. Glenn Saldanha, CMD, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd (India), said: “I am impressed with the infrastructure, environment and progressive approach of the Telangana government.”
Dr Patrick Vallance, President R&D, GSK, UK, spoke on innovation and deliberated on the need of openness to drive Innovation in healthcare. He further said that “a systematic way of making that information available to all is also necessary.” BioAsia concluded here on Wednesday on a grand note as it recorded a participation of 1,480 delegates from 51 countries during the three days.
The event saw insightful sessions from global industry leaders and academic stalwarts. The CEO Conclave on Serving Billion Patients India was held with eminent international and Indian experts from the global pharma powerhouses.
KT Rama Rao, Telangana industry and commerce minister, expounded the government's pro-active measures to CEOs and other top officials from Johnson & Johnson, GSK, Novartis, Glenmark, Wockhardt, Phillips, Deloitte, Government of Selangor (Malaysia), etc. During the three days at BioAsia 2017, KTR shared details of the existing strong ecosystem of the Telangana to the participants.
