Hyderabad: Dr Reddy's Laboratories on Tuesday said it has launched generic Ezetimibe and Simvastatin tablets, used for reducing cholesterol, in the US market.

The city-based drug maker has launched Ezetimibe and Simvastatin tablets in the strengths of 10 mg/10 mg, 10 mg/20 mg, 10 mg/40 mg and 10 mg/80 mg in the US market following approval from the US Food and Drug Administration, the company said in a statement.

They are available in bottle count sizes of 30, 90 and 1000. The drug is a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Vytorin (Ezetimibe and Simvastatin) tablets and Dr Reddy’s is among the first companies to launch the generic product in the US market.

Vytorin which is indicated for use along with a healthy diet to reduce elevated LDL cholesterol in patients with hyperlipidemia is registered trademark of MSD International GMBH.

The Vytorin brand had US sales of approximately $678 million MAT (Moving Annual Total) for the most recent twelve months ended in February 2017, according to IMS Health.
