​Hyderabad: In the wake of fast-evolving world of data, a wider partnership comprising private sector, humanitarian aid and development organizations needs to create a common understanding of Open Data and its incentives for both sides of the equation, said speakers at the 9th annual ICT4D Conference here on Wednesday.

Ultimately, Open Data sharing should aim to forge a better partnership between policymakers and the people, argued Dr Shadrock Roberts, Director of Reslience Programs, Ushahidi.

In a program developed in conjunction with artist-activists in Indonesia, data was the driving force to bring together a community of activists and the government in an engagement project that digitized entire neighborhoods.

“Data must have a social wrapper as it’s not a final product, people must be central, and data without action are meaningless,” said Dr Roberts.
