Telangana State Co-operative Oilseeds Growers Federation Ltd (TSOILFED), which markets edible oils under Vijaya brand, is gearing up to foray into palmolein oil refining under its farm-to-home strategy.
Its 80-cr new processing plant to go operational soon
Hyderabad: Telangana State Co-operative Oilseeds Growers Federation Ltd (TSOILFED), which markets edible oils under Vijaya brand, is gearing up to foray into palmolein oil refining under its farm-to-home strategy.
The Telangana government-owned entity has expanded its palmolein oil processing capacity by establishing a new plant with 30 tonne per hour capacity in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
“As a part of the farm-to-home strategy, the federation is keen on setting up a palm oil refining plant. We have already submitted a proposal to the government. We will go ahead with the plans once we receive nod from the government,” T Sudhakar Reddy, Manager (Plants & Projects), TSOILFED, told The Hans India.
As per the proposal, the co-operative federation will establish a palm oil refining plant with an initial capacity of 150 tonnes per day. It will invest Rs 25 crore on the plant which will also come in Bhadradri district.
“We have palm oil processing plant for which we procure oil palm crop from farmers in old Khammam district and surrounding areas. With the proposed refining plant, we will be present in all the stages of processing and refining palm oil in the State, thus completing the farm-to-home strategy,” a senior official explained.
Apart from setting up the refining plant, TSOILFED is also in the process of expanding its processing capacity by establishing a new palm oil processing plant. At present, it has processing plant with a capacity of 30 tonne per hour (700 tonne per day) at Aswaraopet in Kothagudem district.
“As cultivation of oil palm has increased in the area, we established the second plant at Apparaopet village located near Aswaraopet, with an investment of Rs 80 crore.
The plant, which is ready now and undergoing trial runs, will be inaugurated soon,” Reddy said. The federation sells crude palm oil produced at these plants to other companies that have refining capacity.
Once it has its own refining plant, it can refine some of the crude palm oil at that facility.TSOILFED markets full range of edible oils including groundnut, sunflower and ricebran, in addition to palm oil. It also supplies palm oil through public distribution system (PDS).
