After becoming the leading player for restaurant reservations in Southeast Asia with operations in five markets, eatigo sets it sights beyond its home region
Chennai: TripAdvisor-backed eatigo, Southeast Asia’s leading restaurant reservation app, has announced that it is officially available to users in both Mumbai and Pune, India. The platform, which aims to connect empty tables with empty stomachs, offers discounts of up to 50% throughout the day at all of its participating outlets, and enables users to make fuss-free reservations at more than 2,000 restaurants across Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
As part of its expansion strategy in India, eatigo signed an Asset Purchase Agreement in April 2017 to acquire the operations of Ressy, an Indian online restaurant reservation platform. By leveraging the rise of e-commerce in India and the growing trend of eating out, eatigo is set to become a market leader in the restaurant reservation app space in India as well.
Supported by Ressy’s team in Mumbai and Pune as well as their merchant base, users will be able to choose from a wide selection of dining options, from upscale hotel locations to international food chains and family restaurants. Treat yourself to a fancy dinner at any one of the six restaurants located at Renaissance Mumbai, or have your pick of dishes from the generous buffet line at Saptami at Holiday Inn. Users in Pune also have the exclusive opportunity to use eatigo when dining at the ever-popular Pizza Hut. Regardless of choice, users will have access to attractive discounts any time, any day, simply by making a reservation on eatigo. The process is seamless and does not require any form of payment - users need not pay upfront or even use their credit cards to confirm a booking.
Michael Cluzel, eatigo co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, said, “After successful launches in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and the Philippines, we’re excited to continue extending eatigo’s reach – this time moving out of Southeast Asia, where we’ve served over 5 million diners (and counting).
We’re especially confident because our acquisition of Ressy’s operations definitely complements our existing business model. Ressy’s strong operations team, with its extensive knowledge of the local landscape, will open up a lot of new opportunities that will help us not only increase our visibility, but also expand our position as a strong market leader.”
Koustubh Rajepandhere, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ressy, said, “With an impressive track record of success in Southeast Asia, we are proud to work alongside a proven market leader like eatigo as they break into India. With an uptick of interest in dining out in the country, we look forward to providing a wealth of choices to meet the dining needs of our users.”
