Hyderabad: Ajay Vipin Nanavati has assumed charge as chairman at Syndicate Bank. Nanavati holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech, USA.

Nanavati took charge as chairman on August 28, according to a release. He started his career at 3M in India in 1988 as its first employee and had three decades of illustrious career in the capacity of which, half of the period was spent in US, Singapore, Austin and Israel in various senior capacities.

Immediately prior to his retirement from 3M, he was Director of Global Channel Services & US Atlantic Pacific Operations back in St. Paul, MN and Director, Asia Pacific and Greater China Region responsible for accelerating 3M’s growth in the Region. He is currently on the board of Alicon Ltd.

Additionally he is an active innovation evangelist on various forums, mentors start-ups/SME’s and an angel investor. He is the co-sponsor for the CII Directors Guild on corporate governance and a member of the CII Start up council.
