Company Secys can help promote ‘Ease of doing business’: Kadiyam

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday inaugurated the celebrations of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) here.Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Srihari complimented the ICSI for achieving institutional excellence and playing the role in promoting ‘good corporate governance’ for the last 50 years.
The ICSI was set up in 1980 under an Act of Parliament, i.e., Companies Secretaries Act 1980, for regulation and development of the profession of company secretaries in India. There are 50,000 members of the Institute and over 4 lakh students enrolled with the institute.
A company secretary can immensely support the governments in realising ‘Ease of Doing Business’ drive for entrepreneurs and enterprising businesses contributing towards ‘New India.' He said company secretaries have better job opportunities in Telangana State as it is the most industry-friendly State.
The ICSI presented a memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister, seeking recognition of Company Secretaries’ profession under Municipal Law, Cooperative Society Law, Panchayat Raj and in other laws. The company secretaries also urged the Deputy Chief Minister to bring out a separate Stamp Act for Telangana State. Chairman of Hyderabad Chapter of ICSI Venkata Ramana said they had conducted investor awareness programmes on behalf of Ministry of Corporate Affairs and GST awareness programmes and submitted a proposal to RBI for creating awareness on RBI Regulations.
“We would like to suggest that the State government may introduce in the Higher Education and Secondary School Education the essential awareness about financial literacy. Our Chapter can support the educational institutions as resource persons for the subjects, he added.
M Srinivas, Commissioner, GST, Hyderabad said they had organised 6112 GST awareness and outreach programmes across the country out of which 850 were held in Telangana State.
At the celebrations in the Hyderabad, M Srinivas, Commissioner, GST, M R Bhat, Regional Director (SER), Ministry of Corporate Affairs; Ravi Kumar Duraisamy, Member of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and N Ramchander Rao, MLC , attended the programme.
