Established on October 23, 1931, Vijaya Bank emerged as one of the premier nationalized banks in the country. 

Hyderabad: Vijaya Bank on Friday celebrated its 87th Foundation Day across all the branches, regional offices and head office. Bank’s Chairman G Narayanan, RA Sankara Narayanan, Managing Director and CEO, BS Rama Rao, Executive Director, and Y Nageswara Rao, Executive Director, and all the employees paid rich tributes to its founding father Attavara Balakrishna Shetty and Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty, the architect of modern Vijaya Bank.

Established on October 23, 1931, Vijaya Bank emerged as one of the premier nationalized banks in the country.

Sankara Narayanan said: “The bank has been surpassing several milestones and contributing significantly to the growth and all-round development of the country. Having a total business of over Rs2,27,000 crores, the bank has been at the forefront in ushering a new era of growth and all-round progress.”

As part of its endeavour to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life and to promote corruption free India under the directions of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), the bank is observing Vigilance Awareness Week-2017 from October 30 to November 4 with a theme ‘My Vision- Corruption Free India’ across all its branches and offices.

Vijaya Bank recorded 20 per cent rise in net profit at Rs185.46 crore for the second quarter ended 30 September, helped by lower expenses. The public-sector bank had registered a net profit of Rs154.55 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2016-17 fiscal.
