Over 1,000 booked for GST frauds
The Legal Metrology Department of Telangana Government has intensified the raids against GST fraud cases.
Hyderabad, Nov 5 : The Legal Metrology Department of Telangana Government has intensified the raids against GST fraud cases.
On receiving several complaints from people on this, Commissioner for Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology Controller C.V. Anand ordered officials to make special and detailed checks on all the complaints for another week. GST frauds are been coming to fact from small traders to big shopping malls and even in multiplexes. Charging GST on MRP, non GST items and selling on higher prices in the GST are reported in these raids. In last six days Legal, Metrology Department conducted more 5,000 raids and made special and detailed checks in malls, multiplexes, star hotels, restaurants, bars, sweet houses and other business points.
Controller C.V. Anand informed that as many as 1062 cases have been booked till now and Rs. 10.62 lakhs penalty has been laid while a few more cases in trail stage. Mainly in Hyderabad these cases have been booked. Cases have been booked on Hyderabad Central Mall, PVR Cinemas, KFC, Mc Donald, Prasad Imax, Subway Food Court, Srujana Mall in Kukatpally, Blue Fox Restaurant, Shanbagh, Golconda Hotel, Part Hotel. He said they cheating people by charging GST on MRP.
He said that they will continue to intensify on the GST frauds. If anybody is caught first time charging more than MRP penalty will be from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 25,000 and if anybody is caught second time the penalty will doubled. (INN)
