Hyderabad: Cement and rice will drive the consumption of plastics industry in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, forecasts PlastIndia Foundation, an apex body of associations and organisations engaged in the plastics industry.

The foundation is organising PlastIndia-2018, 10th International plastics exhibition in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, during February 7-12, 2018. The triennial PlastIndia event is expected to draw over 200,000 visitors and 2,000 exhibitors from 40 countries.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday on the occasion of PlastIndia Foundation and Golden Jubilee function of Telangana and Andhra Plastics Manufacturers’ Association, KK Seksaria, President, PlastIndia Foundation, said: “The plastics industry in Telangana and AP will benefit from the national economic growth.

Since both the Telugu states together account for 40 per cent of country’s cement production and large amount of rice output, the plastics industry in Telugu states would gain the momentum as Modi-led NDA government is giving major thrust on infrastructure. Changing food habits will also boost packaging industry.”

Anil Reddy Vennam, V-P, PlastIndia Foundation, added that the other contributors to the growth would be two large paint pails manufacturers in Telangana and they are supplying to all large paint manufacturers in the country coupled with major lubricants and edible oil industry.

“The plastics industry in two states is adopting the latest technologies in manufacturing and is among the largest participants to PlastIndia 2018 exhibition,” said Reddy. Rajeev Chitalia, Chairman, Exhibition Committee, said: “We are getting enquiries from 40 countries.”
