Hyderabad: Ride-hailing app Uber expanded its operations in the city by launching UberEats, its on-demand food delivery app, on Wednesday. The City of Pearls is the seventh Indian city to get the app.

To begin with, UberEats tied up with over 300 restaurants across the city. Major restaurants in the list include Paradise, Pista House, Bawarchi and Cream Stone ice-cream.

However, this newest offering Uber will initially be available in four key neighbourhoods of Madhapur, Kondapur, Gachibowli and Kukatpally, though the company says it will expand to other areas gradually. Tollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh placed first order on UberEats app, marking its launch in the city.

“UberEats has gained great momentum in India. It has been one of our fastest growing markets in APAC. Consumers as well as restaurant partners have a great appetite for the ease and reliability of food at the push of a button,” said Jason Droege, Head of UberEverything, an Uber’s unit that focuses on creating innovative business ventures.

Bhavik Rathod, Head of UberEats India, said the app was aimed at making eating effortless. “We hope the app helps everyone discover great food through the perfect pairing of amazing restaurant partners, our technology and the Uber delivery network,” he said.
