Uber, the world’s largest ridesharing company, on Thursday inaugurated its engineering facility here at Kondapur, near Hitech City. A team of over 40 engineers have already been hired to build business intelligence platforms and real time streaming for Uber globally.

Hyderabad: Uber, the world’s largest ridesharing company, on Thursday inaugurated its engineering facility here at Kondapur, near Hitech City. A team of over 40 engineers have already been hired to build business intelligence platforms and real time streaming for Uber globally.

The 18,000-sft facility engineering facility will hire software engineers across all levels for developing high quality scalable platforms that focus on a seamless core global business economic experience. US Consul General Katherine Hadda, Telangana IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Daniel Graf, V-P & Head of Product, Uber, Manik Gupta, Head of Products, Marketplace and Maps, and other staff took part in the inaugural ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Graf said: “Uber’s second engineering facility in India truly reflects our commitment to investing in this market. Our engineers across the world are solving complex problems with technology to continuously improve the Uber experience for riders and driver partners.

I’m excited for the Hyderabad engineering team to join our global workforce to make Uber’s mission of ‘transportation for everyone, everywhere’ a reality.” Thanking Uber for setting up Center of Excellence (CoE) in Hyderabad, Jayesh Ranjan said: “We’re delighted that this engineering facility will create more employment opportunities and have a positive impact on the state and our economy as a whole.”

Hadda said, “I’m pleased to see the continued commitment from Uber, the world’s most valuable startup in Telangana. This is a reflection of strong US - India tech collaboration. The talent pool in India coupled with the government’s initiatives to ensure ease of doing business in Hyderabad and the rest of the state is attracting many US companies to set up operations here.”

In February 2016, Uber’s first CoE in Asia was launched in Hyderabad provide specialised support for critical incidents that require immediate attention. Today, a team of 500 specialists provide support via multiple channels-- email, phone and social media to ensure seamless experience before, during and after the ride.
