New Delhi: Situated in the heart of societies inhabited by intellectuals, corporates and entrepreneurs, Club5 by DLF5 has become a hub of social, cultural and literary events and gatherings in Gurugram.
Accommodating an ethereal and opulent atmosphere breathing the air of aestheticism within its boundaries, Club5 has got all the arrangements and comforts to nourish and cherish the nuances of art and literature.
Recent weeks have echoed with the footfalls of a colorful audience comprising of authors, storytellers, travelers, photographers, historians and entrepreneurs as DLF5 has widely opened the gates of the grand ballroom of Club5 for a series of cultural and literary events and seminars. Celebrated authors from diverse backgrounds have casted the charms of their wisdom and garnered the applause of people.
DLF5 hosted an enlightening book discussion on the Harpercollins book The Forgotten Cities of Delhi authored by the renowned historian Rana Safvi at the premises of Club5 on 8th July, Sunday evening. The author was in conversation with panelists Asif Khan Dehlvi and Syed Mohammad Qasim. The audience sat in awe as the trio turned the pages of some rare archives of the history of Delhi from Rana`s book.
"The Forgotten Cities of Delhi takes you on exploratory trails of the remains of these cities - monuments and tombs that have survived the onslaught of urbanization and apathy - and gives you a soulful introduction to their histories, by a narrative blended with stirring Sufi couplets. It takes a brave heart and a wise mind to appreciate the marvels of history. And I was not at all surprised when I met such an amazing audience at DLF5," said Rana Safvi, after an excellent discussion on her book.
Rana`s book is an in-depth tour that's full of awe and pathos, and makes us marvel at remnants from an era that was possibly the richest in Delhi's archaeological history - an era of kings and courtiers, poets and saints, princesses and philosophers.
"This was the most unique portrayal of Delhi`s history I have ever witnessed. I did nothing but visualize and celebrate what they talked and admire their brilliance and wisdom. I did not want it to end. I thank DLF5 from the bottom of my heart and request them for more such events," said a resident of DLF5.
After the 'Forgotten Cities of Delhi' Gurugram sailed along an extraordinary voyage of portraits as DLF5 hosted a book discussion event on the traveler photo artist Ajay Jain`s book Indians-A Coffee Table Book in the premises of Club5 on 15th July, Sunday evening. The author showcased his arduous and eventful journey across the subcontinent through an interactive audio visual presentation of his book. The audience sat captivated as the artistic monochromes painted their minds and souls.
"Every strong community ever has drawn its strength from a central institution of knowledge and learning. We take inspiration from the emblems of past and work proactively to flourish this land with a wave of art and literature. It is our way of building a community like none other. Club5 is our gift to the residents of this city," says Aakash Ohri, Senior Executive Director of DLF5.
DLF5 has decided to continue with this initiative of making Club5 the sanctum sanctorum of art and literature in Gurugram. Keeping in mind the varied interests of a diverse population within the city, it's coming up with a book discussion event for the people with entrepreneurial interests on the Penguin`s book The 2 Minute Revolution by Sangeeta Talwar scheduled on 22nd July, Sunday.
