Ameerpet: With less than a month for the inauguration of the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR), the authorities have pressed 1,200 workmen in service to get what is touted as the biggest metro station in the country. Spread over two lakh sft it has the capacity to accommodate more than 6,000 passengers at any point of time.

What is unique about the metro is corridor-III is at the lower level and corridor -1 hovers above it. With granite flooring, 16 lifts, 12 escalators and 12 staircases on either side, workers were seen working frantically to meet deadlines.

Speaking to The Hans India, HMR managing director, N V S Reddy said, “What was to be completed in a year, has been compressed in three months but we are going to pull it off. Workers are on the job 24/7.”

The station here would serve as an interchange point for services from Miyapur to Ameerpet and Ameerpet to Nagole. While the engineering staff is busy giving final touches to the station, experts in horticulture are working to beautify the medians.

About 90 per cent of the work has been completed and it is just a matter of a push and a shove said a senior engineer.
