The latest to join the list is hotshot music composer Anoop Rubens. On a high after successful tracks of ‘Ishq’,’ Lovely’ and ‘Gundejaari Gallanthayyinde’ made him a chartbusting composer, the Hyderabadi-musician had to make way for SS Thaman for NTR-starrer ‘Rabhasa’ (working title).
More rabhasa with Rabhasa’ after director Santosh Srinivas replaced Anoop Rubens with SS Thaman

One technician replaced for another is nothing new in Tollywood. There are umpteen such instances in the industry. Sreenu Vaitla changed at least three cameramen - Andrew, Jayanan Vincent and RD Rajashekar- for ‘Baadshah’- before freezing on KV Guhan; Raghava Lawrence replaced Thaman with himself for ‘Rebel’ and more such replacements.
A source points out, “While Anoop is known for his class, and peppy numbers, Santosh is known to chant the mass mantra. The latter was unhappy with the tunes that Anoop gave him. Considering NTR’s fans expect mass numbers from the film, Anoop was replaced as both the composer and director failed to be on the same page. Thaman, who has given musical renditions for the director’s ‘Kandireega’ and who is known to share a close association with NTR, after having worked for his flicks like ‘Brindavanam’, ‘Baadshah’ and soon-to-release ‘Ramayya Vastavayya’, was the next best choice.”
The source adds, “Thaman has also composed the soundtrack of producer Bellamkonda Suresh’s flicks like ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Jabardusth’ and ‘Thadakha’ in the past and shares a good rapport with him. Although he is tied down with projects in Telugu and Tamil, he had no hesitations in accepting the project.”
Anoop, who is in Mumbai working on the music of Nithiin-starrer ‘Heart Attack’, confirmed the news when Hans Talkies contacted him on Tuesday. “It was purely Santosh’s decision. I was working on a song and it was not fully complete,” he said, hesitating to reveal further. Santosh, who is currently shooting the film, couldn’t take our call.
Well, this is not the first time that ‘Rabhasa’ has run into music director’s troubles. Earlier when the film was launched in February, producer Suresh indicated that it would be composer Devi Sri Prasad, who will be composing the soundtrack, but to everyone’s surprise, Anoop made an entry to the project, only to be shown the doors now.
