Never imagined a sportsperson will get Bharat Ratna: Kapil Dev

Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev was in Hyderabad on Wednesday to promote a new Telugu film titled ‘Dil Deewana’. The movie starring debutants Rohit Reddy, Arjun, Krithika and Neha Deshpande in lead roles is directed by Thumma Kiran who earlier worked as an associate with director Sekhar Kammula.

Kapil Dev, who attended a film event for the first time, remarked, “I am glad that a young team is trying to make a mark with this film and I hope it would be successful”. He also wished that the movie would be dubbed into Hindi too so that he can watch and understand it.

Speaking about southern films, he said, “These days a lot of movies are being dubbed into Hindi. I manage to see and enjoy them”. He further added he learnt a lot about the industry in the last five years. “There are world class technicians in south industry who are making their presence felt in Bollywood too”, he said. When asked about his reactions about Sachin Tendulkar getting Bharat Ratna, he said, “I never imagined that a sports person will get a Bharat Ratna. It’s a proud moment for everyone. I wish to see many sports people to get Bharat Ratna in the days to come”.
