I wasn’t ready to be a part of Telugu industry while doing ‘Brammigadi Katha’. So, after its release, I took time off and shifted focus to Kannada and Malayalam film industries. I’m more prepared now - Asmita Sood

She may have got written off soon after her first Telugu film ‘Brammigadi Katha,’, but actress Asmita Sood believes that she is the ‘lambi race ka ghoda’. Awaiting the release of her second film ‘Aadu Magadra Bujji’ in which she is paired opposite Sudheer Babu, she admits that she was ‘not well prepared’ while making her debut.

“I wasn’t ready to be a part of Telugu industry. Hence, after ‘Brammigadi Katha’ I took time off and shifted focus to Kannada and Malayalam film industries though I was flooded with offers from Tollywood. Having gained more confidence now, I’m more prepared now,” says the actress from Shimla.

While shooting for her other Telugu film ‘Aa Aiduguru’, the actress got a call from Krishna Reddy, the director of ‘Aadu Magadra Bujji’. “He met and asked me if could take the screen test. I’ve participated in the test along with Sudheer. After few weeks, I’ve got a confirmation call for the lead role,” she recalls and adds, “Sometimes things happen without your effort and my selection for the film was sheer luck.”

Giving a peek about her character Indu, she reveals, “She is a beautiful college girl. Everybody around her are keen to propose her but are frightened of her brother (played by Ranadhir) who is a don. However, she waits for that one man who sweeps off her feet and finally she finds her dream boy in Sudheer. In fact, he joins her college as he falls for her at first sight, too.”

About her co-star Sudheer, the model-turned-actress says, “He is reserved and is constantly focused at his work. I had every little interaction with him in the beginning but as the shoot progressed, we gelled very well. He also helped me with my Telugu lines.”

Terming the film as an entertainer, which has comedy, romance and action in equal proportions, she says it’s a sequence of events about how Sudheer wins her love. “Besides the hero-villain rivalry portions, Sudheer’s interactions with a puppy will stand out.”

Recalling an untoward incident that prevailed during the shoot, she says, “In an accident, the assistant cameraman sustained injuries while shooting at Ramoji Film City. The cinematographer too suffered minor injuries.”

Speaking about ‘Aa Aiduguru’ which is currently into post-production, she says, “I play a junior officer in an organisation that acts as the catalyst in bringing social change. The film will release in February.”
