Yesteryear director Beeram Mastan Rao passed away on Tuesday morning following ill health in Chennai. He breathed his last at Bharathi Raja hospital in the city. Mastan Rao became popular after directing "Burripalem Bullodu" starring Krishna. He won Nandi award for Suvarna Sundari starring Chandra Mohan.
He also directed films like Gayyali Gangamma, Prema Simhasanam, Talli Godavari and Viplava Shankam. Though Suvarna Sundari earned him Nandi, he suffered huge losses commercially and his presence was not felt after that.
