Raima SenActresss Moon Moon Sen's daughter Raima Sen has carved a niche for herself in the Indian cinema. The actor earned critical acclaims for her roles in Chokher Bali and Parineeta. In her next film titled The Children of War, she would be seen in an equally challenging role.

In a tete-a-tete with The Hans India, the Raima talks about her role in the movie based on Bangladesh genocide and more...

1. What made you accept the film?

The story of ‘Children of War’ is extremely stimulating. It was difficult to say no to something like this. It was a story that the world should know and I am extremely proud to be a part of this. I minute Mrityunjay (the director) read the script to me I realized how passionate it was and how beautiful the movie will turn out for all of us and decided to accept it

2. Your role in the film.

I play a journalists wife who is the epitome of all the atrocities of the Bangladesh genocide. It is a story of my journey in the Pakistani army camp and how I empower myself and other women during that time to fight for freedom. This has been one of my power packed performances.

3. The trailer says the movie is all about the war within. Elaborate.

I guess the director (Mrityunjay Devvrat) would be the best person who could speak about this as he has extremely passionate and sensitive about the subject. Yes, this story is about the war within. It is about how East Pakistan, after being sick and tired of the atrocities of the Pakistani Army, fought back and protested for independence and formed Bangladesh.

4. In the trailer, you are seen being raped in front of your partner. How did you brace yourself for such a powerful scene?

It was a very terrifying scene. But we all are professionals so we had to get into our characters.

5. The trailer is gripping, how do you rate the entire film?

I think this film is very hard hitting and brilliantly directed. Also, it is based on a true story so it will be informative as well. I would want the audience to watch and appreciate our hard work for the film

6. Rape camp. The word itself sounds ghastly. Didn't you have nightmares after your shoot?

Well I am an actor so I cannot mix my internal feelings with it. But it was a very horrifying thing that happened to the women of 1971 which shivers my spine more than while shooting for it.

7. Give me five good reasons for the movie to be put under the must-watch list.

· It is based on true events and is a part of the untold history

· It is the best kept secret in the world

· It has a beautiful direction by Mrityunjay Devvrat

· My audience and fans will like my performance

· It is a very daring and ‘no sugar coated’ film

8. If not your character, which other role in the film would you have loved to play and why?

I would love to play Mina Kumari’s role in Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam as it has been one of my favorite movies over the years.

9. Do you think films based on hard-hitting real life events such as genocide, can really bring about a change in the mindset of people?

That is the hope of every director while making the film that the audience should get affected. I believe meaningful cinema should be appreciated by people and they should also feel compassionate if it is a sensitive true subject

10. Your last thoughts on the film

I am really looking forward to the release of the movie and want people to be informed about the Bangladeshi genocide of 1971. It is an honest effort from the director and all of us and I am sure people will appreciate the movie.
