Return of Curves To Bollywood. There is a silent wave of change seeping through the corridors of tinsel town. The comeback of curves is how some people are terming it. A decade ago in the heroines had startedgetting infected bythe perfect figure bug.
There is a silent wave of change seeping through the corridors of tinsel town. The comeback of curves is how some people are terming it. A decade ago in the heroines had startedgetting infected by the perfect figure bug.
The infection took mammoth proportions by the time the 21st century heroines stepped onto the stage. Even in those times there were heroines who refused to bow down to the over board demands of the producers or the pressure from peers. Thinner or thinnest was supposed to be the unwritten code for female actors. Heroines like Kareena Kapoor took it a step further and went down to size zero. Forcing other already fragile beauties to have sleepless nights. But like everything else in tinsel wood, the trends change with perceptionand fan followings overnight.
Herones like Huma Qureshi, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan and now Sunny Leone, stuck to their guns and refused to be bogged down by the concept of looking anorexic and exceptionally beautiful at the same time.
Huma has always takethe criticism in her stride and over a period of time her critics have been silenced by her acting skills. Sonakshi had always given a deaf ear to people who called her ‘fat’, but has been now seen toning down for a particular gentleman of interest. Vidya Balan has been a trendsetter, be it her successful transition from the tube to the big screen, or her performance in Dirty Picture, even in marriage by agreeing to marry an already twice divorced Sidharth Roy Kapur. She is one of the most well dressed ladies in Bollywood and carries a saree like nobody else. She naturally fits into any role and her rounded figure only works as an add-on to her well-chosen characters.
We now come to the latest entry to the land of dreams, aka Sunny Leone, a highly successful adult star from USA. Sunny was first noticed by Mahesh Bhatt when she was a participant in the reality show Big Boss. Her performance in Jism2 was widely appreciated. After a few not so worth movies she will be next seen in Ragini Mms2, which is being termed as first horrex movie of Bollywood. The songs are already topping all charts, but what has started sticking in the wider audiences mind is the changing image of the Indian Heroine. Sunny looks exceptionally pretty, attractive and has a full figure, not so often seen in Bollywood nowadays.
Maybe the days of starving and living only an apple a day are finally over for the heroine of the industry. Hopefully the audiences have grown to accept the woman as a real person, with next door looks and a not so perfect body. Maybe she will now be appreciated more for her acting talent and not for the amount of cleavage she bares. The intelligent movie goer needs to appreciate a good performance when they see one and not judge it on the vital statistic of the lady who is performing it.
