Malayali girl with Delhi spin into Telugu cinema, Nikkita Anil Kumar, Boy Meets Girl – Tholi Prema Katha. While she plays a “sweet, chirpy and excited role in the love story”, she would love to do all kinds of films. “I should mean something to the script

Nikkita Anil Kumar is the new girl in Tollywood who makes her cinematic debut with ‘Boy Meets Girl – Tholi Prema Katha’. Unlike many other newbies, excited though she is about her debut, she isn’t full of expectations and admits to being dazzled in the initial days.

The 21-year-old actress is candid and says, “Working with the team was an overwhelming experience. But frankly, I am new to all this, and I am open to learning.” So does that mean she has no previous experience in the world of glamour? “No. A friend of mine knew the director Vasantha Dayakar and that’s how I auditioned for the film and got selected,” says Nikkita.

While she plays a “sweet, chirpy and excited role in the love story”, she would love to do all kinds of films. “I should mean something to the script. It’s only then I would do the film. I am looking at scripts but nothing has really caught my attention,” she adds.

However the Malayalam-speaking girl who has spent most of her years in Delhi has completed shoot for a Malayalam-Tamil bilingual ‘Asha Black’ / ‘Narumughai’ that has directed by John Robinson. She says, “I will be seen as a member of a band.” The movie, which also stars renowned actors like Sarath Kumar and Devan, is slated for release this April.

Interestingly the young girl who will make her big screen debut with ‘Boy Meets Girl…’ had earlier dabbled in theatre while studying in Delhi.

Also to ensure that she isn’t totally new to the business, she did a three-month acting course in Noida. “I have learnt Western dancing, and am even learning classical now,” she quips.

Meanwhile Nikkita says her director Vasanth Dayakar was a treat to work with and says, “He advised me against venturing into commercial cinema.”

While acting doesn’t seem to have been something she always planned, the actress is a graduate in Psychology and plans to start her own NGO sometime. “I would like to promote arts and crafts in India through my NGO,” Nikkita tells us.

Before signing off, she mentions that her upcoming Telugu film is one “that everyone can relate to, and I had a lot of fun shooting for it.” Well, that will be known only once the film releases!
