Perhaps the whole Nation is looking at this happening here – one man, worshiped by millions of young followers as ‘Power Star’, idolized with a whole new religion called ‘Pawanism’ named after him, will set his foot into the mean game of politicstomorrow, launching his party Janasena. The move that was long debated, speculated and contemplated will now be made, and this has stirred the masses.
The truth is, we have a great tenacity to endure – we have endured over 200 years of British ruling, over another countless years of corrupt politics, paving way to denial and disbelief that truth and genuineness even exist in the dirt charade that involves running the Government. We have seen rulers come and go, rise and fall, serve and steal, and finally, scam and bail. We have this great patience to select the undeniably gullible list of who is really worth it and bear the consequences every five years. Out of that, we have developed a pattern towards the Indian Politics – a pattern of disbelief.
We are a country of people loaded with emotions, giving in to great speeches, glorified promises and high hopes for a better governance. We have been duped countless times maybe in the light of the fact that one day, it will ALL be fine. There will be that governance that delivers and inspires. A governance by minds that influence and hearts that revolt against the menace of injustice prevailing.
We have given in to all kinds – the hands, the flowers, the broomsticks and the communists. We tried experimenting with various limited options possible, only anticipating the usual routine of growing disparity between the have and the have nots, inflation, unemployment and diminishing economy.
WE waited and believed in young blood – the lot who will have to step in the shoes of the old and the conservative and pave the way for new and the ‘possible’. The thinkers who will rise up and raise the voice against the angst and do the unthinkable. We would ideally want the Iron Man to come save us, or a Hulk who will erode the bad for good. We are waiting for that new generation which should step in to bring in the change.
We are a bunch of people who are inspired and uplifted by the possible leaders. We like to often imitate and think like those few lot who sweep us off the feet with their simple but dominating personalities every once in a while – these could be in our homes, our offices, our neighborhood and most of all – on screen.
In comes Pawan Kalyan, often liked and disliked in equal measures. He has this irresistible force about him – that connects well with young men and women. He is often criticized for his acting or his personal life by some groups. But the most important aspect of Pawan Kalyan – every young man in a simple Telugu middle class family here sees himself in that image on screen called Power Star. Pawan had inspired, drawn and held the attention of the young masses with his one incredibly mysterious, yet powerful personality. This fatal attraction and imitation of his fans that lured them to think like him, act like him, speak like him – the odds that Pawan’s entry into Politics will influence the way things work – all in speculation. Yes! but haven’t we speculated enough on the dubious before?
The truth is, a man who is capable of inspiring million young minds NEEDS to be in Indian Politics today. I have often enjoyed watching his films but what i’m talking here is completely different – The Power Star mania and the strength that can hold the current generation to think differently.
Politics here in the present do not require the oldies and the corrupt. We require people who inspire, motivate, act and lead. If such an individual who is from an entertainment industry and casts magic with his mere words over something like film piracy, influences the thinking of the youth with his unanimous persona, sheds a domineering effect on the current system with his plans, why cant he be running for a cause as magnanimous as governing of welfare?
When we have endured the manipulative and the corrupt for decades, why cant we, for once, keep our prejudices aside and welcome that one man force? I don’t know where this is headed, but i know one thing for sure - #Pawanism has great effect on the youth to bring in a revolution – if applied right.
With all due respect, i do not believe in the drama of a broomstick or the show of a ‘hand’ – all i believe in those who inspire. I wholeheartedly support his new party to be launched, Janasena and this is my individual decision as a citizen.
And yes, my favorite dialogue from one of his films – “Okka Matinee vadilesi raa..ikkada panai pothundi” (Leave one matinee and come join, the work will get done!)
