It has been a fantastic year for writer Vakkantham Vamsi, with two of his projects- ‘Yevadu’ and ‘Race Gurram’- striking gold at the box-office. Also associated with penning the story of ‘Kick 2’, the ace writer, going by the buzz, has been given the mantle to pen story for NTR’s new film with Puri Jagannadh. It’s a no secret that NTR, who has collaborated with Vamsi for ‘Ashok’ and ‘Oosaravelli’, holds him in high regards. While the writer remained unavailable for a comment, a source points out: “He has started writing it sometime back. He is expected to handover the complete draft to Puri by the end of May 25. The film will go on floors in July.”

Bandla Ganesh, who goes a long way with Puri and who has also produced NTR’s ‘Baadshah’ earlier, will produce the action-entertainer. For the first time Puri, with more than 25 films to his credit as a director, will be visualizing a script other than his own work. “It will be a character-based typical Puri entertainer which will be shot in Hyderabad predominantly,” states the source.

About the writer’s impending film with NTR, “Yes, it has been delayed, but it’s definitely on. It would be set up on a large canvas and is an out-of-the-box idea, akin to that of ‘Kick’. Vamsi is planning to take it to sets in September.” Is Dil Raju still in the fray to produce the film? “That’s a suspense which will be revealed on the actor’s birthday - May 20. Besides the birthday, the actor’s fans will have another reason to celebrate once the news comes out,” replied the source without giving much. We’ve also learnt that the writer has completed writing ‘Kick 2’ barring final touches. To be helmed by his longtime associate Surender Reddy, it would go on floors in August.
