Nithya Menen is warrior princess Mummidamma in Rudhramadevi

Gunasekhar’s upcoming film, Rudhramadevi, has a Nithya Menen as a warrior princess named Mummidamma, who was a force to be reckoned with during the reign of queen Rudhramadevi of Kakatiya dynasty.

When the film’s original cast was announced, Gunasekhar had roped in Zara Shah, who made her debut in Sekhar Kammula’s Life is Beautiful -- later, she was replaced by Nithya Menen.

Nithya Menen reportedly had to learn sword fighting and horse riding for this role, and has already completed most of her scenes.

The film is being shot in 3D, and it might hit the silver screens later this year.

The film has a star cast, including the likes of Anushka, Rana, Krishnam Raju, and Prakash Raj, all of whom are playing important roles. Rudhramadevi also stars Suman, Baba Sehgal, and Catherina Tresa. Ilayaraja is scoring the music.
