Karisma Kapoor, once a queen of Bollywood, has been maintaining a low profile of late and on multiple times was seen trying to shrug off questions related to her bitter marriage and the custody of her two kids. However, the actress dropped by Hyderabad for the launch of ‘The Signature - Neeru Kumar’ label by Neeru’s. We caught up with the actress who is proud of her cousin Armaan Jain who is all set to make debut in Bollywood with ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’, scheduled to release on July 4. “Being an eager sister, I already managed to catch the film,” she beams.
Talking about her association with the Pearl City, she says, “I was 17 when I shot for my first film ‘Prem Qaidi’ in Hyderabad. Therefore, the city will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Speaking about her younger sister Kareena Kapoor, she says, “She has her own family now, but that has not brought any change in our relationship. We are constantly in touch and like all sisters do, we also share problems with each other and always take time for each other.”
About her fitness book, ‘Yummy Mummy Guide’, she says it has received a tremendous response. Mentioning an instance, the mother of two avers, “The air hostess of the plane I was travelling in to Hyderabad, who is a new mother, came to me and started sharing her experiences regarding how the book has helped her. As her job demands her to look in shape all the time, she took the help of the book to shed extra pounds that she had put on post pregnancy.”
The success of the book has made publications to knock her doors. “I have been getting offers to write more books and I might end up coming with another one shortly.”
The fitness freak recommends yoga for easy toning of the body post pregnancy. She took to power yoga to get rid of 24 kilos of weight that she put on after giving birth to son Kiaan Raj Kapoor in 2010. “Yoga takes time to show results but it's advisable as it cleanses your body from toxins and helps you breathe better and sleep better,” she insists.
Despite her busy schedule, she takes time to be with her kids. “Besides spending quality time, it’s important to be friendly with kids as it helps the bond to grow stronger. Adapting yourself to your kids’ way of living and helping them get adapted to you is the secret behind being a successful mother,” she quips.
After the debacle of her comeback flick ‘Dangerous Ishq’ couple of years ago, the actress, a Filmfare Award recipient for her role in ‘Raja Hindustani’, and also a recipient of the National Award for her performance in ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ refrained from signing any other projects. Quiz her if she is committed to any new project, she says, “I will be seen on the silver screen shortly but I will leave it to the readers’ guess,” she smiles.
