Plot: Ramachandramurthy aka Ramu (Rajkumar) is a college lecturer who is love with his cousin Lalitha (Manjula). Some family clashes tear them apart. Ramu's mom falls ill and adamant that Ramu gets married. Much against his wishes he gets married to Gowri (Kalpana). However, he leaves her behind at her mom's place. Ramu's parents get Gowri home. But Ramu fails to respond to her as he's still unable to recover from his past affair. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Lalithaa is nursing a wounded heart after learning of Ramu's marriage. Ramu's parents want to bring the couple closer and thus leave for village. What follows next is Gowri's life with Ramu and what brings them closer. What happens to Lalithaa?
