Charan's My Name is Raju: Samantha's loss is Rakul's gain

That Sreenu Vaitla and Kona Venkat are collaborating for a movie with Ram Charan in the lead is old news. The film titled My Name is Raju was to feature Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead role. However, now we hear that the role has been bagged by Rakul Preet Singh of Venkatadri Express fame.

Apparently the makers could not shell out the remuneration that Samantha was quoting and instead thought of roping in Rakul who is equally talented. Samantha would have loved to be a part of the project but in vain. It's worth mentioning here that even Shruti Haasan was first considered to play the female lead opposite Cherry but dates made it impossible.
