US-based writer Dev Varma had claimed that the story of the film was registered by him.
Dev Varma went on to say that he started writing the script in 2011 and narrated it to Krishnam Raju who had shown keen interest in producing it with Prabhas.
The news had spread like wildfire through social networking sites.
Putting an end to specculations, Puri Jagannadh, who is directing Chiru's 150th film, said on Facebook "#AUTOJAANI story is completely and originally conceived by me.Don't believe false claims and rumours made in media."
It remains to be seen how writer Dev Varma reacts to it.
