“It was my manager who helped me bag the project. He had distributed my pictures to director Koratala Siva who straightaway offered me the role of Mahesh’s little sister.
I was hesitant to begin with but it made sense to sign the project,” recalls Nikkita who got busy in Tamil and Malayalam after her Tollywood debut. Giving a peek into her role in ‘Srimanthudu’, for which she shot for 15 days, she shares, “I play Nikkita in the film too (laughs). She is happy in her own world. She loves her brother the most and idolises him.” Nikkita says Mahesh is reserved on the sets.
“He is not chatty but is very sweet. We would wish each other good morning every day,” she smiles, adding, “While we were shooting for our sequences he would patiently wait for me to get my lines right.” Besides Mahesh, the film sees the likes of Rajendra Prasad, Jagapathi Babu and Shruti Haasan in key roles. Ask her whether she was intimated by their presence, she avers, “I was edgy but they never made me feel like an outsider. They learnt the lines like I did.
They were very humble and made me comfortable.” The actress remembers having a whale of a time shooting with kid Vaishnav on the sets. He is playing her cousin in the film.
He was earlier seen as Venkatesh’s son in ‘Gopala Gopala’. “He was hell-bent on me learning Telugu. He used to come up with the most difficult words in Telugu, asking me for their meaning. I had to find out the meaning in 10 minutes. I spent a lot of time with him on sets and we had a lot of fun,” signs off Nikkita who is also playing Karthi’s sister in Vamsi Paidipally’s next. The film also sees Nagarjuna in the lead role.
