Analysis:Mirchi director Koratala Siva is bang on in his recent release Srimanthudu featuring Tolywood superstar Mahesh Babu. He first deserves a round of applause for his ability to convince a commercial star like Mahesh to act in a simple story. Srimanthudu is a sincere attempt to send across a lovely message and Koratala has achieved the purpose.
One look at tweets and a common sentiment echoing among the audience is that there are no unnecessary comedy scenes or over acting by Mahesh or any of the actors. Koratala has certainly managed to keep it straight with a few commercial elements thrown in here and there to appease Mahesh fans.
Srimanthudu? No, Kortala doesn't mean to tell you a millionaire's story but that of a person with a pure heart and who's rich from inside. The role of Shruti Haasan too complements that of Mahesh in the film.
Of course given the kind of cinema Telugu audience like, to please them with a simple story is a herculean task for sure. But Koratala has effortlessly achieved that with a social message in a convincing way. The drama, emotions a wee bit of action and rural romance all makes you wish the film never gets over.
The first half may feel a little long. However, the plot gains momentum in the second half with Koratala's powerful storytelling and lovely scenes between the lead characters.
Performances:It is Mahesh all the away and he steals the show. His ultra stylish looks and the way of his dialogue delivery, has taken the movie to new level. Mahesh Babu has given his career best performance in this film. Mahesh Babu excels in emotional and serious scenes.
Shruthi Haasan is surely drop dead gorgeous and performed well in the film. She is not only limited to glamour quotient, director Koratala Siva has given her a role to perform in the film.
The chemistry between Mahesh and Shruthi has come out well.
Jagapati Babu, is one of the main assets in the film. The emotional scenes between Jagapati Babu and Mahesh are worth watching. Others including Rahul Ravindran have given their best in the film.
