Tamil cinema is famous for its unique stories and innovative screenplay. Of latem Kollywood directors became experts in making horror films and they are doing good business in Tamil as well as Telugu.
It all started with Rajinikanth’s 2006 vintage ‘Chandramukhi’ and became an inspiration for all the horror films. During the past few years, many horror flicks like Pizza, Villa, Kanchana, Ganga, Pisachi and Rakshasudu were released and all became runaway hits in both Tollywood and Kollywood.
Even our films tried this genre and tasted success with ‘Prema Katha Chitram’ and ‘Geetanjali’. Recently another horror film ‘Maaya’ was released in Tamil and was dubbed into Telugu as ‘Mayuri’ starring popular actress Nayanathara. This film became an unexpected hit. Though the plot is quite complicated, it is the thrills and horror moments in the film that entertained the audience.
There are also some upcoming horror films coming up like ‘Chandrika’, ‘Nayaki’ etc. Wish all these films continue the winning streak of this genre.
