Tagore Madhu, who has acquired the remake rights a year ago, will be bankrolling the venture, marking his second collaboration with the actorturned- politician after the 2003 blockbuster ‘Tagore’.
He wanted to remake ‘Kaththi’ with Pawan Kalyan and NTR earlier but his efforts didn’t yield positive results. Ram Charan is likely to partner Madhu in this endeavour. VV Vinayak, who not long ago was in the race to direct Chiru’s 150th, will be helming the project, which is likely to go on floors this year-end.
Released in 2014, AR Murugadoss’ ‘Kaththi’, which starred Tamil superstar Vijay in dual roles, dealt with the grave issue of farmer’s suicide due to corporate encroachments. While Chiranjeevi recently insisted that he will face the arc lights with a commercial mass masala entertainer, it seems he had a change of heart after showing the door to Puri Jagannadh, who was supposed to direct his comeback film.
The remake, according to sources, will be made on a budget of Rs 60 crore and will be tweaked to raise the entertainment quotient. The makers are on the lookout for an eminent Bollywood face to play the role that was enacted by Neil Nitin Mukesh.
Meanwhile, Chiru has wrapped up shooting his action block for ‘Bruce Lee’ on Wednesday in Hyderabad. A couple of unofficial pictures from the shooting spot have gone viral. And from the looks of it, Chiru is indeed back big time!
