Finally, director Gunasekhar's much awaited Rudhramadevi is all set to hit theatres on October 9. In an interview to an English daily, Gunasekhar said that he dreamt of making historical movies from childhood.
He wanted to make Rudhramadevi after Okkadu with an estimated budget of Rs 25-30 crore. But that project was shelved due to some reasons. Later, he was impressed by Anushka's performance in Arundhati and decided to produce himself.
There were reports that Gunasekhar approached Mahesh Babu for Gona Gannareddy, but he reportedly rejected the offer play the character.
Gunasekhar revealed that Allu Arjun himself called him and offered to play the character of Gona Gannareddy. The buzz in the film industry is that Gunasekhar sold all his properties to make Rudramadevi and brought money on finance.
