The much awaited film of the year, Rudramadevi is all set to hit theatres tomorrow. Gunasekhar took nearly two years to make the movie and nine years for research alone. Rudramadevi stars Anushka in the title role with Allu Arjun, Nithya Menen, Catherine Tresa and Rana Daggubati.

Touted to be one of the most expensive Telugu films ever to be made, Rudramadevi is the story of the reigning queen of Kakatiya dynasty. Rudramadevi was a warrior queen of Kakatiya Kingdom. She was one of the most prominent rulers of the Kakatiya dynasty in the Deccan Plateau, being one of the few ruling queens in Indian history.
Rudramma Devi succeeded her father to the Kakatiya throne at the age of 14, assuming the title Rani (Queen) and the name Rudradeva.
Rudramadevi was married to Veerabhadra, a Vengi Chalukya (a branch of the Chalukyas of Badami) prince of Nidadavolu.
The couple were childless and so adopted two daughters, Mummadmba and Ruyyamba.
