Ace tunesmith Mickey J Meyer, a self-made man, has completed a decade in Tollywood and seems to be going great guns with anticipated projects in his kitty. Rewinding his journey, “Oh yeah...10 years, that was quick isn’t t it? I never dreamt of making a career in music. I remember I used to compose for private albums before making my debut with ‘Pothe Poni’.

Since then it has been a fabulous journey. I remember in my initial days it wasn’t easy for me and my parents. When I used to tell people that I’m working in the industry, they used to give me those awkward looks as I did not have any hits under my belt. Thankfully, I don’t need to deal with that now,” smiles Mickey, who learned music from Trinity College London.

Mickey is elated to have won good acclaim for his recent soundtracks like ‘Kerintha’ and ‘Subramanyam for Sale’. “I’m glad that the music of the two films clicked big time. But I always tried to give my best for every film; it’s just that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

I have composed for around 25 films till now and over the period, the learning curve has been great. I have won awards as well and I’m happy. I have picked up Telugu quite well. I’m trying out variations with music and it’s paying rich dividends,” signs off Mickey, who is currently scoring music for Mahesh Babu-starrer ‘Brahmotsavam’.
