Excerpts
Coming from a family of versatile actors, did it make things easy?
No. On the contrary, post my valedictory, I actually had to persuade my parents to be part of this industry professionally, because until the time I was in college, whatever I did was just for passing time. When I went for auditions also I never told anyone that I belong to an actor’s family. Only a couple of years later did people start to know because of the surname I share.

How did you bag the role in ‘K Street Pali Hill’?
My first show with Balaji Telefilms was ‘K Street Pali Hill’ and I did it for two-and-half years. The show came about in an abrupt manner. I got a call from them at 2 o clock in the night. Then after auditioning for it, I got selected.

Did you face any rejection? And how do you pick your roles?
Yes. When I wanted to start my career, I started to meet people and get to know about them yet nothing was falling into place. I was still in college at the time. Afterwards, I entered into television; 2011 was my year with advertisements and I did 50 of them. The role I choose should have a purpose.

When can we see you in a full-fledged role films?
My next film is ‘Akira’ by AR Murugadoss and it will be out in January 2016. I just finished dubbing for my part. This is a good role of course – it’s another woman with a backbone. But I personally want to do a film with Irrfan Khan.
